PAX East 2017

Every Spring, PAX East takes over the Boston area to hold tournAMents and panels featuring some of your favorite video games from the past, present and show off the ones coming out in the future. This year, PAX East will take place this weekend from March 10-12 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Each day you will find new tournAMents to take part in and new panels to be a part of featuring some of your favorite YouTube personalities and more. Here is your Essential PAX East 2017 Guide showing you the must-see events and how to get into PAX East.

PAX Tournaments

If you are attending PAX East 2017 and would like to compete in any of the tournaments, you will have to sign up that day. Once you get to the event, there will be maps and people ready to show you where you need to go.

March 12th

Portal 2: 11 AM – 2 PM
Mortal Kombat XL: 12 PM – 2 PM

Rocket League: 12 PM – 6 PM
– Psyonix’ Rocket League has been a very popular gAame in tournAMents since it’s release back in 2015. You are always guaranteed an epic match when you are watching this game be played. It is very entertaining and each match is about 5 minutes long.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3: 2 PM – 4 PM
Ultimate Marvel v Capcom 3: 5 PM – 7 PM
Minecraft: 5 PM – 8 PM
Halo 4: 7 PM – 9 PM
Super Mario Strikers: 8 PM – 10 PM

March 13th

Mario Kart 7: 12 PM – 2 PM

Street Fighter V: 1 PM – 3 PM

– Street Fighter V has been featured in many tournAMents since it cAMe out last year. If you are a fan of fighting games then I definitely recommend you checking out Street Fighter V for the non-stop attacks and intense matches.

Mario Kart Double Dash: 2 PM – 4 PM
Puyo Puyo Tetris: 3 PM – 5 PM
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes: 3 PM – 5 PM
Rocket League: 5 PM – 7 PM
Super Smash Bros: 7 PM – 9 PM
Mario Kart 64: 9 PM – 11 PM

March 14th

GoldenEye 64: 11 AM – 1 PM

Super Smash Bros’ 4: 11 AM – 5 PM

– In addition to Street Fighter V, Super Smash Bros’ for the Wii U is another fighting game that always has a crowd watching. Using characters from your favorite Nintendo games and more, get ready for 8 player brawl where it’s just madness that will keep you on the edge of your seat until all of the fighters are kicked off besides one.

Diddy Kong Racing: 1 PM – 3 PM
Super Mario Kart: 3 PM – 5 PM


If you were interested in going to any of the panels, there will most likely be a line. I advise you to arrive at the panel an hour early so you can make sure you get into the panel.

March 12th

Let’s Play Friendship featuring: Achievement Hunter, Funhaus, ScrewAttack and Game Attack : 1 PM – 2 PM
– If you love comedy and video games, definitely check out this Rooster Teeth crew. You can find all these groups on YouTube and you will laugh from beginning to end when you watch their content. I highly recommend you check this panel out, you will not regret it.

IGN: 2 PM – 3 PM

Kinda Funny Embarrasses Your High School Bully: 8:30 PM – 9:30 PM

– Originally from IGN, Greg Miller and crew created Kinda Funny 2 years ago and they have a mix of GAMing and non-gAMing content on their YouTube Channels. Go check out Kinda Funny Live and you will get a feel of what these guys are like when they are put in front of a crowd of their closest Best Friends.

March 13th

Final Fantasy XIV: 12 PM – 1 PM
Major Nelson Radio: 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM

March 14th

History of The Legend of Zelda: 10 PM – 11 PM

– With Breath of the Wild being released this past week, there is no better time to get caught up and learn about The Legend of Zelda from its beginnings on the Nintendo Entertainment System up to their newest game on the Nintendo Switch.


Throughout the weekend there will be featured games presented in the main PAX Hall. Those Features are:

March 10th

Mass Effect Andromeda: 4 PM – 5 PM
For Honor: 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM

March 11th

HearthStone: 10 AM – 6 PM
Halo Wars 2: 4 PM – 5 PM

Tickets Information

Unfortunately, PAX East 2017 is sold out. Tickets were released on October 20th of 2016 and they sold out pretty quickly. If you are looking for tickets, you could check Craigslist or StubHub but PAX advises highly against doing so since those tickets may be fake.
